What buyers judge on
From 8,288 reviews, 3 dimensions dominate the conversation — numbered in the order buyers raise them.
All-day hydration / lasting moisture
does it hold moisture through your whole day
The all-day holdCaudalie VinoHydra Sorbet Cream Moisturizer with Hyaluronic AcidMurad's Clarifying Water Gel is a water-light face gel, and user chatter on how long it holds is still light. The field it sits beside sorts on one axis: creams that carry through to the next morning, and lighter formulas that need a top-up. Caudalie's sorbet holds a full day under makeup and through winter air, and Exuviance's night complex still reads moisturised on waking. Philosophy is the mixed case, most reviewers reporting all-day comfort but one finding the effect gone within the hour. Glow Recipe and jane iredale keep skin soft across a day on far shorter records. Caudalie and Exuviance are the two worth carrying forward when staying power decides it.
Finish on skin (dewy vs matte)
does your skin look dewy or flat by noon
The lit-from-within oneGlow Recipe Watermelon Pink Juice Refillable Oil-Free Face Moisturizer
The quiet brightenerCaudalie VinoHydra Sorbet Cream Moisturizer with Hyaluronic AcidWith reviewer volume on the look it leaves still building, Murad's Clarifying Water Gel has no visible standing here. The rest of the field sorts by how much light it leaves behind. Glow Recipe sits at the bright end, reviewer after reviewer describing a fresh, dewy face and a soft bounce that reads as lit from within. Caudalie and Philosophy sit a step down, each with a handful of notes on soft brightness without shine, and jane iredale swings between matte and dewy under makeup. Exuviance is the outlier, two reviewers finding their skin dull and tired by morning. A dewy finish as the priority puts Glow Recipe at the head of the try-list, with Caudalie next.
When I applied it I felt exactly how you explained. It's pretty chilly out and my skin can be oily/combo during the cooler times. I love Glow Recipe and when I bought the moisturizer it just didn't give me that plump dewy skin I wanted. It honestly felt really sticky and tacky, though I did try it during the hot times (bought the minis) and it worked a lot better. This is why when I tried it out now I was a bit surprised at the tacky consistency. I will keep it, as in my area the heat is super unbearable humid galore. Honestly, the only product my skin has really felt hydrated and plump was using the Benton Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel. It was really the only one that left my skin so plump all night. Long-term reputation
will you still love it in five yearsExuviance is what this field measures loyalty by, reviewers describing two decades of nightly use and no plan to switch. Almost as many long-haul accounts follow jane iredale, users who tried others and came back. Philosophy and Glow Recipe hold the same kind of record on slightly fewer voices, both described as the bottle that keeps getting replaced. The reviewer base for Murad's Clarifying Water Gel is too thin to judge staying power, though the format is a daily face gel. Caudalie carries the same devotion with a caveat, longtime users saying a recent batch smells unlike the old one. Exuviance and jane iredale are the names that keep reappearing when a decade of use is the test.
